PU Discusses Support of University-Based Startups

President and CEO, Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) USA Fred H Walti II held an interaction with the researchers/faculty members and students from the Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) institutions at Panjab University (PU) on October 19, 2016. Around 150 students and faculty members from various CRIKC institutions took part in the interaction.

Walti II talked on the point of "College based Incubators in Supporting Student Startups for Clean Tech Entrepreneurship". He shared the contextual analysis of LACI facilitating startups in various areas. The significant centre is to have new companies consolidating the perfect innovations like battery operated cars, generating energy from the solid waste and so forth. LACI is interested in co-operating with the university-based incubator for common facilitating of the new startups.

PU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Arun Kumar Grover also held an interaction with the students to convey their startup thoughts to cutting edge and examine the difficulties confronted by them. He opined that the principal challenge for the students is to persuade the parents about the startup rather than opting for campus placement.

The Chandigarh administration designed a Special Purpose Vehicle for the smart city usage which brings a parcel of chances for the students to venture into the startup culture. CRICK institutions like PRECUT, PGIMER, Panjab University, IMTECH and so on can be utilized as a test bed for testing and pilot of such advancements, Grover added.

Prof. Grover motivated the students to utilize different stages to find out about the best practices followed throughout the world.

Prof. S Verma, Acting Director, PGIMER shared the difficulties confronted by the large medical institutes and motivated students to take these difficulties as startup thought.
