Punjab Engineering College has decided to increase the fees by 9.09% from the next academic session, ( 2018-19). As per the sources, PEC, deemed to be university will collect 9.09% more fees for all the programs.The annual tuition fees for all the courses is Rs. 1.1 lakh which will increase by Rs. 10,000.
The admission charges for all the courses will rise from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 6,500 and the residential charges will also go up from Rs. 48,000 to Rs. 50,000. The maintenance charges will rise as well, from Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 8,000.

As per Manoj Arora, PEC Director, the board has only approved the increase in the hike for the next academic session. However, the hike for the year 2019-2023 is still not decided and is still under consideration. The board also mentioned that they are planning to reconsider the 12% hike for the session 2019-20.
According to the sources, the increases in fees and other charges for academic session 2018-19 is for new students. The hike in the fees was necessary due to the increase in expenditure, new infrastructure, building new centres, hiring teachers, the impact of the 7th pay commission, increase in pension, among others.

The board also informed the authorities that they have only increased the fees for the undergraduate programs and not for postgraduate programs as the main aim of the institute is to attract bright talented students to the campus.
