In a major development, KIIT University has emerged as the first private university in eastern India, particularly Odisha to enter into the prestigious QS BRICS University Rankings 2018. The rankings were published on November 2018, and the varsity managed to achieve 251 – 300 rank. On the other hand, KIIT University has been ranked 8th among private universities in India in QS BRICS University Rankings 2018. The varsity has emerged as the youngest university in the country to feature in this prestigious ranking.
KIIT has gained global reputation besides being a young institute of 20 years and a young university of only 14 years. Within four years after becoming the university, KIIT bagged NAAC accreditation. NBA (National Board of Accreditation) in Tier I Format also accredited the varsity. Various international bodies such as IET, Washington Accord and others also recognised KIIT.

It is one of the greatest milestones for KIIT as it featured in the international rankings. Founder of KIIT, Professor Achyuta Samanta revealed that the varsity faced tough competition in the rankings and emerged as successful. The performance of KIIT in QS BRICS University Rankings 2018 indicates the top quality education and academic practices followed at the institute. The rankings will further boost the institute to deliver better research output, he concluded.

Many universities in BRICS countries, i.e., Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa featured in QS BRICS University Rankings 2018. Usually, the ranking authority assesses the universities on eight different indicators.
