Rajasthan CM Promises to Provide Better Job Opportunities to Youth

The Rajasthan CM, Ashok Gehlot states that the eligibility criteria of the EWS reservation will help the youth of the state to avail the EWS reservation central services and educational institutions. The suggest the removal of provision for immovable properties in EWS will help the youth.

Rajasthan Govt EWS Proposal

With unemployment rising throughout the country, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot stated that the Rajasthan Government has pledged to create better employment opportunities for the state’s youth.

In a statement made by the Rajasthan CM stated that the removal of eligibility criteria of immovable property under the EWS or Economically Weaker Sections in different Government Services and Educational Institutes will bring about ease among the youth. He stated that the Government has taken into consideration, the difficulty faced by the unemployed youth in availing the benefit of the reservation category.

During a meeting held at the residence of CM Ashok Gehlot with office-bearers of different organisations and the youth, he stated that his government had tried to pass a proposal of 14% EWS reservation criteria, which had been approved by the state assembly, however, it was rejected by the central government led by Atal Bihar Vajpayee Government.

Presently, the Central Government has offered a provision of 10% reservation for the youth under the Economically Weaker Sections. However, various complexities in the reservation category such as the provision of immovable properties are hindering the youth in benefitting from the reservation. The Chief Minister has stated that they will be pushing the Government of India to remove such complex provisions. He added that the state government will urge the Centre to remove the provision of immovable property in the EWS reservation, in order to help the youth avail the opportunities in government services and educational institutions.

As of now, various ministers have been supporting the proposal offered by the CM, stating that the Government is focused on providing better job opportunities to the youth. Transport minister, Pratap Singh stated that the government’s proposal will help in easing the future of the youth.

The proposal offered by the Rajasthan Government stated that the parameter of agricultural land of 5 acres or more, residential flat of 1,000 sq.ft. or more and 100 sq.ft or more in notified municipalities should be removed from the eligibility criteria for EWS reservation. As per the proposed revised eligibility criteria, the state government will be considering the annual income of the family, a maximum of ₹8 lakhs for the youths who wish to avail the EWS reservation in Government Services and Educational Institutions in the state.
