Free Air Travel for Rajasthan's Meritorious Students

The Government of Rajasthan has come up with an idea to reward the meritorious students of the state by giving them one free air travel ticket. This reward will be open for those students who are enrolled in the government schools of Rajasthan. Once the students top the board exams of class 10th and 12th, they will be given this token of appreciation by the government.

Govind Dotasara, the School Education Minister, announced this on 22nd October 2019, Tuesday. He said that free air travel will be provided to students who have given a laudable performance in the board examinations in an attempt to encourage them to continue excelling in academics.

Doatsara further said that all the officials in the Education Department have been briefed about this step and they have also been given directions to take necessary action. The minister also told that the extra-curricular activities in which the students of class 10th and 12th are involved will also be considered as a criterion for the selection of students who will receive the free air travel reward.

The Government of Rajasthan has been making several amends in the education system and quality of education of the state. Recently, the government appointed a state-level committee for regulating coaching institutes in order to reduce the stress level of students who are studying in such coaching classes. It is known throughout the country that Kota in Rajasthan is the coaching hub where students from across all states go for the preparation of competitive exams like the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE Main and JEE Advanced) and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). In every academic session, students enrol in the various coaching institutes at Kota in class 11th itself. Hence, keeping the teaching pattern of these coaching institutes in check is extremely important as many cases come to the surface in which students commit suicide after being unable to cope with the pressure of academics and preparation for cracking these competitive exams.

For this reason, the Rajasthan government formed a committee that will be given the responsibility of regulating such coaching classes. Apart from that, Rajasthan has also introduced a chapter in schools for spreading awareness about crimes against women. It is commendable that the state government of Rajasthan is taking such steps for improving the quality of education provided to students and also encouraging the brilliant and meritorious students.
