Rajasthan Has Maximum Number of Girls Colleges in India

Rajasthan government has taken several major steps in improving girls’ education. 22% of colleges in the Rajasthan state are all-girls colleges which is the highest percentage in any state. There was a time when it was infamous for its poor female literacy rate but the state has the highest number of educational institutes dedicated to only girls across the country.

The girls pass enrollment percentage in the state is 50.07% surpassing boys at 49.93% for the very first time in the state. Rajasthan government has decided to establish more such all girls colleges in all divisional headquarters. The state has come up with the first such girl's college in the city of Kota where both the teaching and non-teaching staff are all women.

Rajasthan government has shown tremendous support towards girls education and has taken various major steps to bring a revolution in girls education in the state. The state has established 48 new educational institutes out of which 12 colleges are all girls.

Kiran Maheshwari, Higher Education Minister, Rajasthan said that the rate of dropouts can be improved if more educational institutes are opened up at district and divisional level. She also said that these colleges are very popular as they are the only institutes where there are no vacant seats. The attendance rate is very high in all colleges as compared to other which in itself is a proof that these colleges are doing fairly well for themselves.

Government all girls colleges located in Ajmer, Laskot and Sikar are running full time since they were established in 2013-14. Apart from these colleges private universities such as Banasthali Vidyapith, IIS University are based on the model of all girls and are leading universities of the state.
