Rajasthan: Labourer’s Son Beats All Odds, Scores 98% in Class 12

Son of a labourer, Bharatpur’s Amit Kumar has emerged as one of the toppers of Rajasthan Board class 12 exams. Amit is 17 years old and secured 98.2% marks in the Rajasthan Board Exam 2017.

The result of the exam was announced on Monday, May 15 and Amit is amongst the science toppers. However, the board has not announced the list of toppers in order to reduce the burden on students and bring down competition amongst schools.

Amit scored 100 marks in Mathematics and Chemistry along with 97 marks in Physics. He aspires to clear the Civil Services exam and become an IAS officer.

Amit’s success was not easily earned but came after a lot of hardship and dedication. Unable to pay the fees of his son, Amit’s father had no option other than asking him to drop school.

Amit’s father, Surendra Singh, is overjoyed with the success of his son. Amit studied in a government school in his village Peepla up to class 8. After that, he enrolled himself in a private school in Bharatpur that was 13 kilometers away from his house. He used to cycle the distance to reach school.

Director of the school, Pramod Singh, said that he decided to help Amit as he had a lot of potential and had scored 94% marks in Class 10.
