Rajasthan’s Ranchod Ram has proved that determination is the best ally for those who want to prove themselves. He secured 2078 rank under the OBC category in JEE Advanced exam despite all the hardships faced by his family.

Ranchod loves machines and wants to pursue engineering from either of the prestigious IITs in the country. He hails from Jalore’s Jhak village in Rajasthan and is the first student from his village to clear JEE Advanced.

His father is employed under the MNREGA scheme and his mother is a homemaker. Coming from economically weaker section of the society, it was not easy for Ranchod’s parents to fulfill his dreams. However, they sent him to prepare for the exam in a Kota-based private coaching institute.

Talking about his education, Ranchod said that he had scored 78% in class 10 and 80% marks in class 12. He further informed that his uncle took him to Allen Career Institute in Kota where he got 50% scholarship on the basis of his talent.

It was Ranchod’s second attempt at JEE Advanced. He wants to pursue either Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Electrical Engineering (EE) or Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE).

Ranchod and his family have gone through a hard time with their main income coming from farming and MNREGA. He has three siblings, the eldest of whom is working in a shop at Andhra Pradesh to support the family.
