With an objective to pay homage and tribute to Cho Ramaswamy who played a significant role in making various contributions to the cause of public, Sastra University announced the creation of Cho Ramaswamy Chair at the varsity on December 7, 2016. Under this Chair, various steps will be taken which will give a new facet to the multidimensional development of the country by policy making.
The varsity expressed its concern that the nation had lost a man who has both intelligence and integrity. Ramaswamy is the man who had proficiency in various fields. The sudden demise of Ramaswamy shocked his admirers, and it is tough to fill the gap.

S. Vaidhyasui Bramaniam, Dean of Planning and Development, Sastra University indicated the varsity has created a Chair in the name of Cho Ramaswamy to reflect the various contributions made by him for the sake of society.
The primary objective of the Chair is to hold discussions and lectures about public policy. Similarly, the Chair will also take up various research activities regarding the public policy.
The Chair will be launched soon. The formal inaugural session will take place shortly where a nominating professor will occupy the position.

Recently, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) launched a Chair for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality at Amrita University. The main objective of the Chair is to identify the problems that are being faced by women in India and address them. The Chair will lay emphasis on promoting gender equality in various aspects which include education, employment, skill development and security.
