Indian Youth Can Earn Upto $100 per hour
Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Union Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship said that a skilled person has brighter chances of being employed than an educated person.
The Minister was speaking at the ceremony of a partnership agreement with the Ministry of Education of France, where French company Schneider Electric was roped in for imparting skills to Indian youth. The minister urged to reverse the system where the skilled workforce were ignored as the ones who dropped out of the education system. A trained electrician with toolkit by Schneider would be more employable than a person with a general degree. Now Government's dream is to make Indian youth as skilled as workers in Europe and America so that they can earn up to 100 dollars per hour.
The minister also mentioned the areas where India can work for skilling the youth-
- IT Sector
- Soft skills
- Working knowledge of a foreign language
- Technical skills
Schneider Electric India Foundation and Schneider Electric Foundation in consultation with the Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC) and National Skill Development Council (NSDC) will set up labs and undertake training programmes in skill development centres.
The minister also said that with a huge focus on several national missions, like Digital India, Make in India and Smart Cities, there is a great need for skilled workforce in the solar energy, power and automation sectors.
