St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata has decided to launch ten more postgraduate courses at the Park Street campus in the period of next two years. Rev Fr (Dr) Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal Xavier’s College Kolkata informed about the same during the press conference. He informed that the introduction of the postgraduate courses is a part of the college's expansion programme. The college will introduce -
- MA in English, Bengali, and Political Science from the 2019 academic year
- From 2020 academic year, the college will start M.A. in History and Sociology and M.Sc in Economics, Data Science, Statistics

Apart from this, the institute is also planning to come up with a Ph.D. programme in Computer Science. The college will also set up a finance laboratory, especially for the finance students to take up research in the same.
Meanwhile, the 12th convocation ceremony of the institute will be held on 16h January 2018. The chief guest for the occasion will be Suranjan Das, Vice- Chancellor Jadavpur University. He will be awarded the prestigious Nihil Ultra Award by the Institute for his contribution to the higher education in West Bengal state, and for his contribution to the college.
