  • The NIRF rankings for 2018 are going to be more competitive as more colleges have participated in 2017.
  • So far, a total of 4,734 institutes across the country have registered for NIRF Rankings 2018.
Stephen’s College & Hindu College of DU Aiming for Top Spots in NIRF 2018

NIRF Rankings 2018 of HRD Ministry is likely to be more competitive, as many popular institutes across the country have applied for the first time. The NIRF Rankings 2018 will be announced in April 2018. Following are the institutes that have applied for NIRF Rankings for the first time: -

  • Hindu College, Delhi
  • St. Stephen’s College, Delhi
  • Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi
  • All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi
  • National Institute of Fashion Technology
  • School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal
  • School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada

Among the 100 medical colleges that applied for the NIRF Rankings 2018, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh and Christian Medical & Hospital, Vellore are some of the popular institutes.

In all, a total number of 4,734 institutes across the country have registered for NIRF Rankings 2018. Compared to the previous year, 1,525 more institutes have applied for the rankings.

Academics Dean at AIIMS, Dr. Balaram Airan revealed that they applied for the rankings just to evaluate themselves, i.e., the performance of the institute. The rankings will help the premier medical institute to improve in specific areas.

An official associated with Ministry of Human Resource and Development revealed that many colleges affiliated to the University of Delhi had skipped the rankings in 2015 and 2016. It is a good sign to see the top colleges in the country participating in NIRF Rankings 2018, he added.

Heads of colleges affiliated to Delhi University were of the opinion that the rankings would help the institutes to figure out strengths and weaknesses.
