Students Urged Not to Miss Modi's ‘Young India, New India’ Speech on September 11: UGC

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has advised the students of universities and colleges to not skip PM Narendra Modi’s speech on September 11, 2017, while he is at the centenary celebrations of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya and the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda's address at the Chicago World’s Parliament of Religions. He will be addressing the nation on the occasion, the theme of which will Young India, New India – A Resurgent Nation (from Sankalp to Siddhi).

The UGC has informed all the educational institutes to make arrangements for enabling students and teachers to hear Modi’s address by identifying an audio-visual room or auditorium on their campus. UGC also urged all the institutes to arrange a proper TV or projection facility to facilitate wide viewing. Institutes shall encourage teachers and students to participate in the event. The programme and venue details shall be displayed on the notice board of the campus, stated by UGC.

The Prime Minister of India will address the nation highlighting the significance of the teachings of Swami Vivekananda in the backdrop of the contemporary social milieu. If the youth absorb and understand the essence of Swami Vivekananda's messages to the world, they will be benefitted at large. The teachings of Swami Vivekananda will ensure educational, spiritual and career growth in students.

Swami Vivekananda was a popular philosopher who played a vital role in enhancing the quality of lives of people through his teachings which were highly philosophical as well as spiritual.
