The Shivaji University, Kolhapur (SUK) has invited applications from interested educational institutions to start new certificate courses from the 2016-17 academic year. The courses can be started across the Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur districts.
In a circular issued on May 20, the university registrar V N Shinde, said that there are 21 courses in all. The course duration is anywhere between six months to a year. There are also 12 courses which are of one to three months' duration. According to a university official, there are courses in home-science, paramedical and agriculture. These will provide students with better employment opportunities.
"Courses such as, X-Ray functions, ICU assistant, film and theatre acting, drama, spoken English, computer hardware and maintenance, fitness training, and computer networking are a few which can be beneficial for candidates in terms of employment opportunities. It will also prove to be a good offering for the educational institutions."

On the details of the applications, the official said that the prospectus for different courses, application fees and other details are available at the Lokvikas Kendra at the university campus. Interested institutions can visit the Lokvikas Kendra from June 1 to 30 for applications. The university will receive proposals for new courses from June 15 to 30.
