The representatives or a delegation explained the pros and cons of NEET-based admissions in Tamil Nadu to the union ministers. There is no clarity whether the central government gives NEET exemption for Tamil Nadu. The legislations adopted by the state assembly are still under consideration. According to sources, it may not be possible for the centre to exempt Tamil Nadu from NEET. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is a national level medical entrance examination. Almost all the states are conducting admission process based on NEET merit. Therefore, it will not be fair to give an exemption to Tamil Nadu in the process.
