Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University observed its 44th convocation on 21st April 2016. A total of 87 gold medals, certificate of merits, and PhD. DLitt degrees, were awarded to 822 students & scholars at the forty fourth convocation of the Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) that was organized at the TNB College stadium on Thursday in Bhagalpur – Bihar. The 50% of the gold medals & the certificates of excellence were secured by the girl students.
Some of the meritorious girls who received medals include Sweety Kumari (botany), Priyanka (zoology), Reema Kumari (physics), Madhu (computer applications), Neetu Kumari (biotechnology), Richa Singh (MCA), and Shilpi Lata Madhuri (chancellor's medal in history), among the others. Out of the twelve toppers in the field of social science subjects, eleven of them have been girls.
The governor Mr Ram Nath Kobind, who is the Chancellor of the Universities given the medals & the degrees in the presence of the education minister Mr Ashok Choudhary & the other senior officials from the Raj Bhavan & education department, who were with them.
The Chancellor when expressing his happiness on the success of the students of the institution said “being perfect” is one of the most important virtues of the life. Talking about the aims of the education he said, "The students have worked very hard during the academic years & all the efforts during the years would bear fruit when they face challenges of the life.”
