To improvise the TOEFL Exam, the famous testing agency & assessment institute, ETS changes the existing test patterns. According to the Executive Director of TOEFL Exam, Srikant Gopal, the changes have been made in order to provide flexibility to students as well as the educational institutes. He added that the organisation understands a student’s struggle to prepare for TOEFL exam, along with other work to pursue higher education, keeping that in mind, ETS decided to provide the option to navigate deadlines to students.
TOEFL New Exam Pattern
As of now, no changes have been made in the syllabus of the exam. Here is the list of changes that would be experienced by students preparing for TOEFL Exam:
- Candidates will not be getting an option to register for afternoon testing slot on available dates.
- Introduction of a new exam slot will further increase the total number of candidates sitting for the exam. More test centers are to be included for the same and the organisation is working on the same.
- Earlier, students had to wait for 12 days to appear for the retest but now, that clock has been removed by ETS. Students wanting to take a retest can take any available dates.

Earlier this year, various modifications were made in the TOEFL exam - Reading, Listening and Speaking Sessions. Also, the agency has introduced MyBest score features for the students to improvise their TOEFL Score. MyBest Score has all the records of TOEFL attempts and scores of test-taking candidates.

Due to the latest updates in the testing patterns of TOEFL Exam, students will get more chances to perform better in the exam. Removal of 12 days wait-clock for the retest students is the best modification, so far, it will be helping students to save a lot of time.
