JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Chemistry Percentile Scores likely to Witness Sharp Decline
The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Chemistry Percentile Scores likely to Witness Sharp Decline due to the tougher nature of the Chemistry section across most shifts. Student feedback and expert analysis suggest that average good attempts dropped to around 13, compared to 17–18 last year, indicating reduced scoring potential.
Even candidates with 19–20 correct answers may reach only about 97 percentile, while average attempts could fall near 80 percentile. This trend is expected to impact overall scores and may also influence the JEE Main Cutoff 2026, subject to Session 2 results and NTA normalization.

JEE Main Cutoff 2026 might Witness a Slight Decline- Key Reasons Behind the Predicted Drop
The JEE Main Cutoff 2026 might Witness a Slight Decline, with experts predicting a marginal drop of 0.1–0.2 percentile compared to last year. This is mainly due to the moderate to difficult difficulty level of Session 1, especially in Mathematics and Chemistry. Tougher papers generally lead to lower percentiles as overall scores dip.
However, strong performers with 40–45 good attempts could still score 180+ marks. The final cutoff will depend on Session 2 results and NTA’s normalization process, which balances difficulty variations across shifts.
10 20 AM IST - 23 Jan'26
On January 22 Shift 2 Mathematics Emerged as the Toughest Section, Demanding Accuracy and Time Management
Mathematics was noticeably tougher than the earlier three shifts, despite questions being from familiar and standard topics. The section was calculation-heavy, with lengthy problems that tested students’ problem-solving ability, speed, and accuracy. Effective time management played a crucial role, as even well-prepared candidates found the section time-consuming.
