Training Institute for Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Launched in Delhi

An institute which trains Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) has been launched in Delhi on February 2, 2017. The institute has been named as School for Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (SAME). It will offer a three-year AMC course in avionics and mechanical which is approved by Civil Aviation Ministry and DGCA.

The primary objective of SAME is to provide required skills and training through a combination of rigorous classroom training, on-the-job training and practical knowledge.

One of the officials associated with SAME indicated that Indian aviation market is regarded as 9th largest aviation market in the world with a worth of about $16 billion. The main target is to reach 3rd position by 2020. It could be made possible only through the provision of exceptional training and skills to the candidates.

He further explained that due to the advancement of the economy, most of the people prefer air travel for personal and business purposes. Therefore, the demand for qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) will rise exponentially in the coming years.

Speaking of SAME, the institute's course will be divided into six semesters. The last semester primarily will focus on on-the-job training. The course designed for AMEs will help them get a license from DGCA to undertake maintenance of civil aircraft which are registered in India.

The scope of a career in aviation has been increasing considerably in the recent times, not only because of the high salary linked to it but also because of increased global connect.
