The second phase counselling and seat allotment process for engineering courses in Telangana are likely to be delayed. The admission to engineering courses in various colleges across the state is done based on the score secured by the candidates in TS EAMCET 2017. However, JNTU-H is planning to hold second phase counselling process after the conclusion of seat allotment process at IITs, NITs, GFTIs and IIITs by JoSAA.

Stating the reasons for postponing the second phase TS-EAMCET 2017 counselling process, one of the officials of JNTU-H revealed that top rankers in JEE Main, JEE Advanced and TS-EAMCET 2017 participate in both admission process, and join in IITs or NITs leaving seats vacant in university colleges across the state. Currently, 40 seats in the university colleges of Osmania University and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTU-H) remained vacant as candidates opted for IITs.

Private college managements can fill the vacant seats through spot counselling, and it is not possible for the university colleges. These colleges can only fill the seats through the counselling process. Now, JNTU-H is planning to hold second phase counselling process only after July 20, 2017.One of the officials pointed that JoSAA conducts seven rounds of counselling, and students from the state might get a seat in any round of the counselling. Therefore, the varsity has decided to postpone the second phase counselling process.
During the first phase counselling process, the authorities were successful in filling all 3,060 engineering seats in university colleges. Out of 80 seats in pharmacy course in three university colleges, 54 seats remained vacant.
