TS Government to Implement Bio-Metric Attendance in Polytechnic Colleges

The Ministry of Technical education, Telangana has finally taken the decision to implement biometric attendance for the students as well as lecturers. This system will be implemented to see that the students attend the college regularly and have minimum attendance to attend examinations. Director of Technical Education, Dr. MV Reddy requested the officials of Center for Good Governance to design a software for this purpose.

He also mentioned that contract lecturers will be appointed for the colleges which do not have enough faculty. The lecturers will be appointed on par with the student and teacher ratio. The government polytechnic colleges in Telangana recorded 100% admissions. The biometric system will enable the students to come to college regularly. The students who fail to have minimum attendance will not be allowed for the examination. A student must have a minimum of 75% of attendance in the academic year to qualify for attending the examinations.

The second phase of POLYCET counseling will be completed by 15-July-2016. The Department of Technical Education is aiming to fill a maximum number of seats through spot admission which will take place in the second phase of counseling. Most of the private colleges haven’t recorded many admissions which will be filled in the second phase of counseling.
