UGC Asks Universities to add IPR as Elective Subject

UGC i.e. University Grants Commission wrote a letter to the Universities asking them to make IPR, the short form of Intellectual Property Rights, an elective subject.
Jaspal S Sandhu secretary of UGC says to media that it is important to appreciate the intellectual property and following points comes under it so, making it an elective subject under choice based credit system.

  • Names and Images
  • Designs for Industrial Articles
  • Symbols
  • Literary
  • Inventions

He also said that maintaining a balance between the business and creation is important. We give a chance to creativity to flourish or bloom.

The very first time it was recognised that preserving and appreciating intellectual property is paramount in Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property (1883) and the Berne Convention for Protection of Literary and Artistic Work (1886).
