University Grants Commission (UGC) has come up with a Student Induction Programme known as Deesksharambh. UGC has asked all the varsities to plan and execute the same for the students entering into higher education and make the transition easier for the students.
According to UGC Deeksharambh - the Student Induction Programme will helpful for both teachers and students. For students, it will be helpful in the smooth transition and will also improve the teaching-learning experience. The Student Induction Programme will be of one week and will help the students to get familiar with the campus and other activities.
The UGC programme will mainly focus on four things - Socializing, Associating, Governing and Experience (SAGE). The first aspect socializing will focus on meeting new students, seniors, faculty members and others. Associating will guide students to visit other college and institutes, exploring campus, the local area and the city. Governing will be about rules and regulations, guidelines and others. The fourth one is the experience and it will focus on study lectures, small group activities, performing arts etc.

The UGC officials informed that the Deesksharambh is designed to help students feel comfortable and through this, they can explore their academic interest. The programme will also serve as a platform to build a relation between teacher and students and to open new horizons. The commission has also suggested all the universities to take a follow up once the induction is over.
