Lucknow Girl among 60 Students to witness Chandrayaan-2 Landing with PM Narendra Modi at ISRO. Rashi Verma is a class 10th student of Delhi Public School Lucknow.

One of India’s proudest moment has been the successful launch of Chandrayaan-2. With the successful launch comes the moment of landing. Chandrayaan-2 has been orbiting the Earth’s moon, however, it is yet to land on the moon. DPS Lucknow girl Rashi Verma has made her state proud as she got selected among 60 students.

Two students have been shortlisted from Uttar Pradesh to witness the landing of Chandrayaan 2 with PM Narendra Modi on September 7 at 01:55 am. Rashi Verma and another class 8th student were selected after clearing various rounds of an online science quiz conducted between 10th and 25th August. Children were required to answer 20 questions in a time limit of 10 minutes.

Rashi Verma informed that media that it is her dream to become IAS officer once she grows up and she is very excited as she will get a chance to converse with PM Narendra Modi. Apart from Rashi, three students from Meghalaya, Odisha, and Jharkhand will also witness the moon landing of Chandrayaan 2 from ISRO headquarters in Bengaluru on 7th September.

From Meghalaya Ribait Phawa studying in Ramakrishna Mission Higher Secondary School in Cherrapunjee's Sohra (Class 10), Jharkhand's Mridula Kumari studying at St. Thomas School in Ranchi and Odisha's Chinmaya Choudhary studies studying at DAV Public School, Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) in Jharsuguda district have been selected to witness the landing.

With the inclusion of school students, the Government of India will be able to spike interest among the students for space studies and research. The decision will also lead to the students preparing and gaining further knowledge. This will be a great opportunity for the students to venture into a probable option in terms of their undergraduate or career path.
