UpGrad, online learning and education platform, has become the official education partner for ‘Startup India’ programme. The primary objective of UpGrad is to become a significant facilitator for the first generation entrepreneurs and contribute 25 percent of the 200 million jobs that India will be required to create in the next 5-10 years.
UpGrad, co-founded by Ronnie Screwvala, will offer a four-week training programme to entrepreneurs with the objective of exposing them to possible challenges in their entrepreneurial journey. The programme also focuses on the main steps required to set up a venture.
Around 1 lakh entrepreneurs will be benefitted through this programme in the first year. However, around one million of new entrepreneurs will be trained in the next 2-3 years. Ronnie Screwvala said that if India could generate one million first generation entrepreneurs in the next five years and each entrepreneur can create an average of 50 jobs, this could bring a drastic change in technology and automation.
Along with the initial launch in English and Hindi, the programme will be launched in Telugu, Tamil and Marathi.
