Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT University), Madhya Pradesh will start functioning from August 2017. With an objective to make things go according to plan, Vice-Chancellor of VIT University, Prof. G. Vishwanathan met the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan on April 18, 2017. During the meeting, VC of VIT University explained about various developments that took place with regard to the construction of the university.
Prof. G. Vishwanathan confidently stated that the academic session would begin from August 2017. Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh laid the foundation stone for VIT University in 2016. The varsity is going to come up on a 100-acre land with a budget of Rs. 500 crore.

VIT University is also going to begin its first academic session at the campus that is being set up at Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh from June/ July 2017. Then varsity also initiated the online application process for various courses at these new VIT campuses. The foundation stone for VIT Amaravati was laid on November 3, 2016. The construction of the varsity is nearing its completion and is gearing up to start the academic session soon.

For the construction of VIT Amaravati, the government of Andhra Pradesh provided the land free of cost. It is the first private university that is going to come up in the new capital region of Andhra Pradesh, i.e., Amaravati.
Apart from Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, VIT University is also planning to establish its campuses in other states.
