Will TANCET 2026 March Exam be Postponed?

Is Anna University planning to postpone the TANCET exam 2026 this year? Based on what some professors said, the exam may get postponed and the reason for the delay seems to be the assembly election. By the month of May, the deemed varsities would complete their admissions, and the enrollment in university departments and government colleges could dip.

However, some private colleges stated that doing this would cause a delay in PG admissions in the state. B Chidambararajan, director of SRM Valliammai Engineering College, said, “Conducting the TANCET in March ensured that enough time was available for MBA, ME, and MTech admissions. If this entrance test is postponed to May, then the admissions will be delayed.”

Keeping in view the past trends of the last 3 years, students were expecting the exam to take place in March in 2026. The authority usually releases the admission notifications in the month of January. But in 2026, the notification has not been published until the end of the third week of February 2026, which is worrying the aspirants. An official from the university said, “Anna University received feedback from candidates demanding that the exam be postponed to May this year. The university then sent a proposal to the govt to conduct TANCET/CEETA in May.”

Adding to this, the official also said, “The eighth semester results will be published in May or June. Students claim they are not aware of the exam being conducted in March. So, the exam is likely to be conducted a week after the final semester exams.”

TANCET is a crucial state-level exam that is conducted by Anna University to offer admission to postgraduate studies such as MBA and MCA in top colleges across Tamil Nadu. This exam is conducted once a year in an offline mode. Several statements have been released by officials and experts on the exam date postponement but no official confirmation is not out yet. Students are advised not believe any speculation, until an official notice is out!
