India and Australia have successfully set up a joint taskforce to improve qualifications recognition arrangements, as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison. The same will allow students to study in higher educational institutes in both countries and examine the chances of offshore campuses.
The taskforce is going to work on the recognition of online and blended learning along with joint degrees.

Stuart Robert, Acting Minister for Education and Youth Australia said on March 21, 2022, that the task force will identify opportunities to recognise Australian and Indian higher education qualifications and make recommendations to improve arrangements based on best principles and practices. India and Australia share a strong bond in education, research and skills and with the implementation of the taskforce, new opportunities will come to the fore for the Indian and Australian graduates to use their qualifications.
The collaboration will expand the cooperation in education, optimise mobility outcomes for students and graduates and support the trade-in professional services between India and Australia.
Australia is a major study destination for Indian students. As India plans to internationalise its campuses, Australia can contribute through student exchange, inward student mobility, twinning arrangements and joint projects. This will be an important step forward for both countries.

The taskforce will strengthen Australias strategy for International Education 2021-2030 for bilateral education cooperation and sustainable growth of offshore educational services. The task force is supposed to createa mechanism regarding the expansion of education qualification recognition between India and Australia by the end of 2022, which is to be implemented in 2023, added Robert.
India is a key partner for Australia in international education, with over 90,000 students studying in the country before the pandemic.In 2022, India became Australia's second-largest source of students. The recognition of mutual qualification recognition is a positive step forward for both Australia and India, and it will benefit both Indian and Australian students. The importance of bite-sized credentials is acknowledged by India as it aims to increase the number of skilled workers by 2030.
Establishing the recognition of Australian degrees and micro-credentials is an important step for both Indian and Australian students. The taskforce that has been setup for education between India and Australia is currently working on a framework that will allow both countries to recognize education qualifications.
