65,000 Seats Remain Vacant for Diploma Engineering Courses in Maharashtra
After the second round of admission for the engineering diploma courses in Maharashtra, over 65 thousand seats remain vacant. Assistant Director of MSBTE has confirmed that the third list will be issued.
The total engineering diploma seats in Maharashtra is 1,15,523. But, surprisingly after the second round of the centralised admission process, 65,038 seats remain vacant in the state. Only 50,485 seats have been allotted in Maharashtra. Approximately 65,921 applications were received by MSBTE (Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education for diploma admissions in Engineering.
Assistant Director of Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education, Rajendra Gaikwad said that only 50,485 seats have been allotted in the polytechnic institutes of Maharashtra. However, the admission process for the engineering diploma courses is still going on and even a third list will be out. He also said that there will be an additional round for the government and government-aided institutions. He added that there was a similar situation last year where half of the engineering diploma seats remained vacant.
Last year, only 50 per cent of the seats for engineering diploma were allotted to students out of a total number of 1,16,000 seats. This year, the number of seats has been reduced to 1,15,523. However, the official exclaimed that even after the reduction of seats and two rounds of admission process this year, seats have been vacant.
Rajendra Gaikwad said that last year the admission began around April 28 and it was one of the reasons why the seats remained vacant. Thus, this year the admission process for diploma in engineering started early on April 28 but the result is the same as last year. Gaikwad added that the officials are working hard to spread the awareness about the diploma courses so that the number of allotted seats increase.
