BAMU will get Central University Tag, Assures Union Minister
With an objective to mark the struggle made by Dalit communities, the state government will work for achieving central varsity status for BAMU.
Ramdas Athawale, Union Minister of State for Social Justice assured that the state government would take all the necessary steps to achieve central university tag for Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University or BAMU, Aurangabad. He indicated that the Dalit communities had strived hard to change the name of the varsity. With an objective to mark the struggle made by Dalit communities, the state government will work for achieving central varsity status for BAMU.
The varsity was established in the year 1958 as Marathwada University. In the year 1994, the name of the varsity had been changed to Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University.

Recently, BAMU announced that it is going to launch a course in Stock Market in collaboration with National Stock Exchange, Mumbai. The name of the course is NSE Certified Capital Market Professional Course. It is a certificate course with six months duration. The course will be launched in the coming academic session which will start in the month of June 2017. For launching the course, BAMU signed a Memorandum of Understanding with National Stock Exchange.

Through this course, the students will be trained on the basics of stock exchange. The course is being launched as a part of the financial literacy campaign. Candidates who qualify the course will get a certificate from National Stock Exchange and Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University jointly. A total number of 40 students will be admitted to the first batch, and the course fee is Rs. 15,000. The detailed notification regarding the admissions will be announced soon on BAMU's official website.
