As a temporary sigh of relief to the MBBS students, the High Court of Gauhati has directed the authorities to not cancel the admission of students who have already been given the allotment letter in various colleges across the state.

On August 25, 2017, hundreds of MBBS and BDS were in a state of shock after the High Court directed the state government to cancel the MBBS and BDS admissions. It had directed the Assam government to start the counselling process for the courses all over again despite the fact that the classes had already begun ultimately leading to stress and confusion.

On August 30, 2017, Education and Health Minister of Assam updated the official order of HC on the official website of MBBS and BDS admissions that clearly stated that those who have already enrolled in the medical courses shall not worry as their admissions will not be cancelled until further orders.
