CAT 2017: 31,368 Applicants Skip Exam
- In all, over 13% out of total applicants have skilled CAT 2017 exam.
- The actual number of candidates appeared for CAT 2017 exam was 1,99,632.
A total number of 31,368 applicants who had initially registered for the Common Admission Test or CAT 2017 (13%) did not appear for the exam, which is lesser than 2016 (16%). The actual number of candidates who appeared for CAT 2017 exam was 1,99,632.
According to the data disclosed by Convenor of CAT 2017, Mr. Neeraj Dwivedi, there was an improvement in terms of total number test takers. In 2015, over 39,000 applicants failed to appear for CAT exam.
Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow conducted the CAT 2017 entrance exam this year. The test was conducted in 142 cities across the country. TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) was the testing partner for the exam.

According to the feedback given by the candidates, the questions in CAT 2017 exam were moderate in terms of difficulty level. However, a few questions in Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning turned out to be most challenging for the candidates. Apart from these, CAT 2017 was relatively easy.
The Reservation Policy at IIMs is applicable only for the specific institute but not CAT 2017. Indian Institutes of Management will consider only specific categories mentioned in the list of central government. On the other hand, PWD candidates with more than 40% of disability are considered eligible for reservation.

After the declaration of CAT 2017 results, IIMs and popular B-Schools across the country will begin the admission process for management courses offered at postgraduate level.
