CBSE Board Exams 2018 to be Conducted in March

The Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE, as is popularly known, has announced that it will hold both Class X CBSE Board Exam as well as Class XII CBSE Board Exam in the month of March 2018 as planned. In June 2017, amid much debate, the CBSE Board was contemplating to pre pone the CBSE Class 10 & CBSE Class 12 exams to February, 2018 to give the examiners more time to evaluate answer sheets and reduce the discrepancies in the checking process, which was assumed to be a result of shortage of time.

The plan change in the schedule of CBSE Board Exams was a part of reforms to make the CBSE answer scripts checking process error-free. In a statement given out to the media, CBSE had supported this decision to have more time for evaluation & equality. It had also mentioned that it would involve all stakeholders in this process.

For 2018 CBSE Class 12 Board Exams, about 1.1 million students have registered as opposed to 1.067 million in 2017 – an increase of 2.82%. In addition to this, the number of centres and schools registered for Class 12 exam were 3,502 and 10,678, respectively.

Changes in CBSE Board Exam 2018:

• CBSE Class 10 Board Exams are compulsory
• Students will no longer have the option to to choose between the board exam or school assessment
• Students from more than 18,000 schools affiliated to the CBSE will take the Class 10 CBSE Board Exams in 2018
• CBSE is making efforts to reduce the window period of the Board Exams in 2018

If this happens, CBSE Board Exam Results 2018 may be announced earlier than usual, i.e., earlier than the third or fourth week of May.

While the official dates for 2018 CBSE Board Exams has not been announced yet, the tentative time to begin the Class 10 CBSE Board exam and Class 12 CBSE Board Exam is first week of March, 2018 (after Holi).
