CBSE Class 12 Students Sign Petition for Grace Marks in Physics

CBSE class 12 science studentshave come together to ask for grace marks inPhysics exam. Students are signing an online petition asking CBSE to have alenient markingscheme for the Physics paper as the question paper was tricky and lengthy. The petition for lenient marking has been signed by 7,400 students through an online portal named ‘change’.

The students also complained that they got very little time to revise for the Physics exam as there was only a day’s gap between theCBSE class 12 English paperand Physics Paper. The Physics exam was conducted on March 7, 2018.

Talking about the Physics exam, Anjali Jha, a student, said that they with only one day left for preparation, students had to study throughout the night and appeared for the exam with their mind exhausted and hence could not perform to the best of their abilities. She also added that questions fromSection Cwere difficult and lengthy.

AnotherCBSE science studentadded the Physics paper was easy for students who have been preparing forJEE Mainand had assistance from coaching institutes. Only a fewstudents reported that the Physics Paper was easybut most of the students rely on school notes andNCERT, the student added.

Asha Malhotra, anotherCBSE studentsaid that she was disappointed with the format of the exam and said that it was difficult for average students. However, teachers have a different take on this matter.

The principal of Study Hall, Shalini Mathur, said that she interacted with variousPhysics teacherand they reported that the Physics exam comprised only a few difficult questions, while the rest of the paper was quite straightforward. Mathur added that the exams are meant to test the students and should not be a cake walk, therefore, there is no point in petitioning against the Physics paper.

CBSE CoordinatorLucknow, Jawaid Alam, said that reports of every paper are being sent to the board and no irregularities in the pattern or difficulty level were reported. He also added that students who are filing the petition may not have prepared well enough for the exam and that there is no cause for lenient marking.
