CBSE to Retain Single Term Board exam from Session 2022-23

CBSE Board Exams 2022: Central Board of Secondary Education might decide to scrap the 2 term exams for CBSE Board Exams 2022 from the academic year 2022-23. The circulars issued by CBSE for July 2021 had made it clear that the 2 term exams will be conducted for the current academic session. Hence, CBSE has not stated that it will continue with Term 1 and Term 2 exams separately for the next academic sessions as well. In fact, the exam circulars released by CBSE have stated that the two-term exam is a special assessment scheme that has been decided for the year 2021-22.

CBSE decided to divide the yearly board exams into two terms: Term 1 and Term 2 while conducting the exam amid the COVID pandemic in the year 2021. This was done by the board to deal with the challenges brought by the pandemic, online classes, and the evaluation process. However, the board also had to cancel the exams in the summer of 2021 due to the high surge of COVID cases in the country. In order to avoid such a situation in the future, the board came up with the idea of a division of semesters for the board exams.

Even though CBSE has stayed silent on the matter, it is believed by many that the old method of board exams will return from the academic year 2022-23. Since the cases have been reduced in the country and the pandemic situation seems highly controlled, there is a high chance that CBSE will conduct the board exams in one term from the next year. Although, before making any final decision, the students and schools will have to wait for the final confirmation and official notification from the board.
