The Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE has decided to allow those students to change their class Xth and XIIth exam venues who are currently based in cities where they have not taken admission. The CBSE officials have decided to allow students appearing in the upcoming first-term board examinations to apply for a change in the exam city centre. The process to apply for a change in the exam city centre has not yet been initiated by the CBSE officials but is expected to begin soon. The Class Xth first-term Board examinations will commence from 30th November onwards and the same for the Class XIIth students will begin from 01st December onwards.

According to Sanyam Bhardwaj, Examination Controller, CBSE, it came to the Board’s notice that for many students, their current location is different to the cities where they took admission. Thus, they decided to bring in a system where such students can request for an exam centre city change through their respective schools. The Board will initiate the process after they collect all such requests from the schools online.

Mr Bhardwaj also said that the students will be given a time window to submit their requests through their respective schools. No new requests regarding the same will be accepted by the officials after the last date.

Earlier this year, the CBSE officials decided to conduct the class Xth and XIIth board exams in two terms due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country. Questions will be asked in objective format and the students will be given only 90 minutes to answer them. In view of the approaching winter season in India, the exams will begin at 11:30 AM instead of 10:30 AM. The schools will be conducting the exams for the minor subjects even though the board will be responsible for providing the question papers to the schools.
