Corporate Needs to Update Opinion of Diploma Holders: Aspiring Minds
Recent survey shows that 20 percent of engineering diplmoma holders are employable
A recent survey shows that at least 20 percent of students who hold a diploma in engineering are employable but are not able to find jobs. TheAspiring Mindspresented a report called the firstNational Employability Report-Diploma, 2016in which these statistics were stated. The co- founder of Aspiring Minds, Varun Aggarwal said that this is because of the company’s bias nature towards the mainstream courses. The corporate world still not see the diploma as something which will satisfy the need of their company.

In India, there are almost 8,00,000 students that enter the industry with a diploma and it is acceptable that a diploma does not stand against a degree but out of the total almost 20 percent i.e. 1,60,000 are employable but are not employed. Following are the details:
- 8,000 employable programmers
- 21,000 employable software testers
- 80,000 employable sales
- 80,000 employable marketing executives
The ratio of male engineers to female engineers is almost same. In different courses the percentage is different, the percentage of women is highest in Information Technology and it is least in Mechanical.
- 47.4 percent in Information Technology
- 3.6 percentage in Mechanical

There are a lot of measures to figure out if a student is employable or not but basing it only on degree and diploma is not correct.
