CUET may be conducted twice a year: UGC Chairman
CUET 2022: On May 23, the chairman of UGC, Shri M Jagadesh Kumar, tweeted that there is a possibility that CUET Examination may be conducted twice per year. It also seems that the plans for the same are underway. Know more below.
CUET 2022: The registrations for the Common University Entrance Test for UG programmes concluded on May 22 and within a day after following it, on May 23, 2022, Shri Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, the chairman of UGC, conveyed through a series of tweets that this year has seen the highest number of CUET UG applicants yet. As many as 11,51,319 candidates applied for the examination while 9,13,540 candidates have paid the fees until now.
He also conveyed proudly that the registrations for CUET UG have come from all states and all union territories across the country, many even appearing from rural areas. He also reinstated that now many universities are also encouraging admissions through CUET. M Jagadesh Kumar also conveyed the possibility that CUET will be held twice a year in order to further help students plan for the exam and get admission to the university they aim for. He concluded his tweet with wishes for CUET 2022 aspirants.

In regards to this, the UGC chairman, on Twitter, wrote (in continuation of his earlier tweets):

The number of CUET applicants is expected to rise even further. It is probably along these lines that the authorities are planning to conduct the exam twice. Not only conducting the exam biannually will provide greater opportunities to the candidates, it will also give the candidates more chances without having to wait another year to attempt the exam.
As of now, the plan for the biannual conduction of the exam is still underway, and can be expected to be implemented in the next academic year.
