Delhi University Colleges Hike Fees of Undergraduate Courses
- A few Delhi University colleges have hiked the fees for undergraduate courses beginning this academic session of 2018-19 citing an increase in maintenance charges.
- BMS course at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College is the most expensive course in DU.
Somecolleges affiliated toDelhi Universityhave increased their fees forUG courses, citing a hike in hostel fees and maintenance charges. For instance,Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Collegehas hiked its course fees by almost Rs. 4,000. Earlier, the fee for humanities courses was Rs. 11,460. As per the revised fee structure, the fee for these courses has gone up to Rs. 15,610.
Among all the courses,BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies)is the most expensive course in Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College with an annual fees of Rs. 18,640. Last year too, the college had increased the fees for various courses despite opposition from teachers. Even though there is an increase in the fees for various courses, the college offers Rs. 10,000 scholarship to needy students.

The Principal of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College revealed that there is a marginal increase in the annual maintenance of the new campus which is over Rs. 3 to 4 crores.
Teachers at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College alleged that the management hiked the fees without the consent of the Governing Body. However, the principal of the college confirmed that the matter was on the agenda of the meeting.
On the other hand,Indraprastha Collegehas hiked the hostel fees, as 92 rooms are fully air-conditioned now.

Shyam Prasad Mukherjee Collegehas hiked the fees for various courses by Rs. 4,000. At present, the fee forB.A. Applied Psychology (Hons)course is Rs. 9,985, which was Rs. 4,490 last year. The college did not specify the reasons for the hike in fee structure.
