DU SOL Professor Writes to PM Modi Over Delay in UG Admission Process

DU SOL UG admission process that was scheduled to begin in June or July, has been delayed due to reasons unknown. A professor at DU SOL has written to PM Modi and UGC to intervene in the matter.

A professor atSchool of Open LearningDelhi Universityhas written to Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi expressing his concern over the delay in the commencement of admission process of its UG (Under Graduate) courses. Every year, over 1.5 lakh students take admission inUG courses offered by the School of Open Learning, he added.

In his letter to PM Narendra Modi, Staff Council Secretary of SOL, Mr. Janmejoy Khuntia urged the PM to intervene in the matter by directing the UGC (University Grants Commission) and the University of Delhi to initiate the admission process forB.Com,B.AandB.Sccourses offered by SOL for the current academic session, i.e., 2018-19.

Mr. Janmejoy Khuntia further indicated that the faculty members of SOL are also deeply concerned about the undue delay in the commencement of admission process for UG courses. He pointed that the authorities of the varsity never informed SOL about this serious academic issue (delay in UG admissions) and its causes. On the other hand, the authorities never consulted SOL to figure out solutions to problems facing by this great institute, he added.

A copy of the letter written to PM Modi by Mr. Janmejoy Khuntia was also forwarded to HRD Ministry.

Usually, SOL admission process for first-year UG courses begins in the month of June or July. This year, the admission process has not commenced as per regular schedule. The delay in the admission process has created confusion in the minds of the public and society.
