DU Students Break World Record, Build World's Largest Pyramid using 57,000 Plastic Cups

Students of Delhi University shine again! A group of DU students build the world’s largest pyramid using plastic cups and broke a Guinness Book of World Record.

The pyramid was build using over 57,000 plastic cups and is 22-feet tall. It has been put on display at the Thyagraj stadium, Delhi.

A group of 21 students from different colleges of DU including Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Sri Venkateshwara and Shaheed Bhagat Singh, were involved in making this project. Hansraj College student, Kushagra Tayal was the one who led this team.

Kushagra has been trying to make his presence in the Guinness book from the past few years. This was his fourth attempt after failing at the longest drum marathon as a result of back problems and playing badminton for two consecutive days and finally, the pyramid made out of plastic cups. His failure didn’t disappoint him and each time he tried harder to break a new record.

Kushagra and his teammates started building the pyramid on Wednesday, October 13. The pyramid fell apart several times but they didn’t lose hope and went on with their task.

The record made by the team was confirmed by the Guinness officials present at the venue when they successfully placed the last cup on the top of the pyramid. The previous record holder was a Mexican teenager who had built a pyramid using around 43,000 plastic cups.
