FTII to Invite Foreign Actors and Technicians to Improvise their Skills
- FTII Pune is in talks with Ministry of External Affairs and has requested them to identify the target industries for the same.
- This initiative will help the foreign artists to seek the help of the prestigious institute’s expertise in film training, skills and education.
Film and Television Institute of India, Pune (FTII) plan to invite foreign movie artists and technicians to improvise and polish their skills. FTII Pune is in talks with Ministry of External Affairs and has requested them to identify the target industries for the same. This initiative helps the foreign artists to seek the help of the prestigious institute’s expertise in film training, skills and education. In the past, FTII has organised various short-term courses such as screen acting, method acting, film appreciation, digital cinematography etc in the period of last nine months.

Bhupendra Kainthola, Director - FTIIstated that at present, a group of 20 actors from Nepal are taking a short course in screen acting at FTII. This initiative is one of the kinds of the MEA. FTII alumni have always excelled and have left an imprint on the Indian cinema and television with a worldwide reputation. FTII aims to go international now and be globally recognised. He also mentioned that the institute has also been approached by the Indian Embassy in Nepal to conduct short-term courses for the actors of Nepal.

However, the decision to choose target countries depends upon MEA. Once the institute has their permission, then only they can finalise the project and start preparations. Various actors currently taking up the course at FTII are associated with the Nepalese Film Industry and some of them have also worked in commercials, TV serials, music videos and others.
