"Green Campus" Competition Announced by Prakash Javadekar on Environment Day
- "Green Campus" competition announced by HRD minister on Environment Day.
- Guidelines for the competition are formulated by UGC and AICTE.
- Winners to be announced in February 2018.
Union Human Resource and Development Minister Prakash Javadekar announced a competition called “Clean Campus, Green Campus, Smart Campus” for colleges and universities on the occasion of World Environment Day. In this competition, the educational institutes are required to keep their campuses clean, plant more trees, and conserve energy and water, in addition to implementing waste management projects.
The reason why Javadekar was in the city was to launch the Smart Campus Cloud Network project of MIT-WPU in association with Terre Policy Centre at Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University Campus.
The institutes participating will be evaluated in January and winners will be announced in the month of February.
Guidelines for the competition are formulated by UGC and AICTE.
The main objective of this competition is to make the campuses across the country clean, green and sustainable. Clean campuses promote healthy education and better learning environment.

It is believed that students learn these things through practical experience and field work. Things including water conservation, energy conservation should become part of our daily lives.
A similar competition will also be announced for schools across the country. According to Mr. Javadekar, India is firm on its commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement. For the Prime Minister, protection of the environment is an article of faith for the country.
