Gujarat State Govt. Opens MBBS Quota for OCI NGRs

  • Gujarat Govt. stated children of non-resident Gujaratis (NRGs) who have HSC certificate from Gujarat or CBSE school in the state are eligible for admissions.
  • Admissions to nursing and physiotherapy will be on the basis of marks secured by candidates in class 12.

Gujarat State Government has made it mandatory for the candidates seeking admission to the medical and paramedical to submit their domicilecertificates. The state government has taken this initiative to avoid the misuse of state quota by candidates who apply for Gujarat MBBS admissions.

Nitin Patel, Deputy Chief Minister made an announcement regarding the same. He also said that the children of non-resident Gujaratis (NRGs) who have the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card and have a passing certificate in Class 10 and Class 12 from Gujarat SSC and HSC or CBSE affiliated school in the state are eligible for admission through government quota.

However, the eligibility of such students will clearly depend on the fact that their parents must have been born in Gujarat. Candidates will be required to submit their domicile certificate as a proof.

He further informed the media personnel, that candidates planning to take admission in medical, Ayurveda, homoeopathy, dental, and naturopathy will be evaluated on the basis of NEET scores. While admissions into nursing and physiotherapy will be on the basis of marks secured by candidates in class 12.

Apart from this, the state government will introduce centralized admission process for NRI quotas and management admissions. Students who have studies Class 10th, 11th and 12th in science stream from Gujarat and have a passing certificate are eligible to take admission to medical courses in Gujarat state.
