NEET UG 2024 Exam (Application Correction Ongoing)

NEET UG 2024 Exam is scheduled to be conducted on May 5, 2024. The registration window for NEET 2024 was live from February 9 to March 16, 2024 at neet.ntaonline.in. This year, more than 25 lakh students have successfully submitted the NEET Application Form 2024. Around 55% which is 13.75 lakh of the applicants are female. NEET application correction 2024 window is open from March 18 to March 20, 2024 up to 11:50 pm for candidates who have made the application fee payment.

The NEET 2024 exam is held in offline mode (Pen and Paper), with 200 questions to be attempted in 3 hours and 20 minutes. Notably, NMC has revised eligibility criteria to include students with Biology or Biotechnology as additional subjects in class 12. NTA NEET Syllabus 2024 PDF consists of 79 units instead of 97. This change has been introduced due to amendments in the curriculum of various state boards. Admit cards will be available 3 to 4 days before the exam. NEET 2024 Exam - Important Changes and Updates

  1. Exam Format Remains Offline: Despite rumors, NEET 2024 will continue to be conducted in the traditional pen-and-paper (offline) format.

  2. Syllabus Reduction: The NEET UG 2024 syllabus has been revised due to reductions in the class 12th syllabus by state boards during the lockdown, now comprising 79 units instead of 97.

  3. Confirmed Syllabus Release: NTA re-released the NEET UG 2024 syllabus on November 22, 2023, addressing errors by publishing FAQs Regarding NEET 2024 Syllabus by NTA for better clarity.

  4. Tweaked Eligibility Criteria: The National Medical Commission has updated NEET UG 2024 eligibility criteria, allowing students with Biology or Biotechnology as additional subjects in Class 12.

  5. Minimal Changes in Exam Pattern: While there are a few adjustments, the core structure of the NEET exam is unchanged, with 180 multiple-choice questions, each carrying four marks. A new section focusing on medical ethics called 'Ethics, Integrity, and Aptitude in Medical Practice' has been introduced.

Steps to Apply Online For NEET 2024 Exam @neet.ntaonline.in:

The NEET 2024 application process enables students to take the entrance test and pursue admission into their desired colleges. It involves several steps, including:

  • Step 1- Head over to the official website of NEET 2024

  • Step 2- Click on the NEET (UG) Website and Registration button 

  • Step 3- Fill in all the relevant details in the NEET 2024 Application Form as required. These include Full Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, Email ID, and educational qualification 

  • Step 4- Mention the present address as well as the permanent address of the candidate with the correct pin code, locality, district, city/town/village, state, and country

  • Step 5- Choose a secure password and select a security question and a security pin of your choice during the NEET application form 2024 process

  • Step 6- Mention your category (whether General/SC/ST/OBC/PwD). Remember that once selected, the category of the NEET 2024 exam cannot be changed later. Mention if a scribe is required (for PwD category candidates)

Documents Required to Fill NEET Application Form 2024:

NTA NEET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants need to check the eligibility criteria before applying for admission through NEET exam, as specified by the NTA. Only the candidates who fulfilled the NEET Eligibility Criteria 2024 will be granted admission based on the exam score. 

Before applying for the NEET 2024 exam, candidates must grasp the eligibility criteria. Here are the key aspects to consider:

  1. Age Criteria: Applicants must be at least 17 years old to apply for NEET 2024. They should meet this age requirement before December 31, 2024, as per NTA guidelines.

  2. Nationality: Eligible candidates for NEET 2024 can fall under various categories:

    • Indian Nationals
    • Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)
    • Persons with Indian Origin (PIO)
    • Non-Resident Indian (NRI)
    • Foreign Nationals
  3. Minimum Marks Required: UR category applicants must score a minimum of 50% in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in Class 12th. SC/ST and OBC-NCL category candidates need a minimum of 40%, while PWD category candidates require 45% marks for eligibility.

  4. Minimum Qualification: Candidates should have completed Class 12 from a recognized Board to be eligible for the NEET 2024 exam.

  5. Subjects Required: NEET aspirants must have English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as core subjects in Class 12th. Additionally, students with a PCM background and Biology as an additional subject are also eligible to apply for NEET 2024, based on the latest eligibility criteria from the NMC as of November 22, 2023.

NEET UG 2024 Exam Pattern

In the NEET exam pattern 2024, each subject's syllabus is divided into Section A and Section B. Section A contains 35 questions, while Section B has 15 questions with options. Candidates must answer 10 out of the 15 questions in Section B. They have 200 minutes (3 hours 20 minutes) to mark their answers on the provided OMR sheet. Here are some more details on the NEET Exam Pattern 2024.

  • Language Medium: Candidates can attempt the NEET 2024 exam in any of the preferred 13 languages like Hindi, English, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Gujarati, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Marathi, Assamese, and Urdu.

  • Mode of Examination: The NTA NEET UG 2024 exam will be conducted in offline mode widely known as pen and paper mode.

  • Marks per Question: Each right answer to questions in NEET UG 2024 exam carries a maximum of 4 marks.

  • Negative Marking Scheme: For every wrong answer a candidate makes on the NEET 2024 exam date, the negative marking will be 1 mark per answer.

  • Time Duration: The maximum time allotted for the NEET exam 2024 is 3 hours and 20 minutes. Previously, the time duration for NEET 2024 exam was 3 hours. In 2022, the exam duration was increased by 20 minutes.

With just five months left until the NEET UG 2024 exam on May 5th, it's crucial to prepare effectively for one of India's toughest exams. Here are some essential preparation tips for NEET 2024:

NEET 2024 Mock Test

NEET Mock Test is usually uploaded on their official website by the NTA. Those who utilized the tool before appearing for the test on the NEET UG 2024 exam date gained an added advantage. The mock tests can be taken from the official website or can be opted for from coaching centres that specialize in NEET UG coaching.

These mock tests vary in difficulty level from very easy to difficult and can be opted online or offline. Aspirants must have ideally started solving at least one mock test paper per day at least 1 month before the NEET UG 2024 exam date.

To obtain the NEET 2024 Admit Card, candidates need to visit the official NTA website and log in using their registration/application number or Roll Number and password. The admit card will be available for download in PDF format. Candidates must print the admit card and affix a recent postcard-sized photograph (4"x6") in the designated space. The admit card must be signed by the candidate's parent/guardian, with the candidate leaving their signature blank. The admit card is mandatory for entry into the examination center. Following the exam, the nta nic in result will be published on the official website approximately 15-20 days later. NEET Exam 2024 Tie-Breaking Criteria

There are often cases where two students get the same marks in the NEET exam. In such situations, the NTA has a NEET tie-breaking criteria that helps moderators come to a conclusion. Below-mentioned is the NEET tie-breaking criteria in order of priority if two people get the same marks in NEET 2024.

  • Tie-Breaking Criteria 1: To break the initial tie, a candidate who scored higher marks in biology will be given the first preference or a higher rank. 
  • Tie-Breaking Criteria 2: If the NEET exam 2024 tie still exists, then the aspirant who has scored high marks in chemistry will be provided with a higher rank.
  • Tie-Breaking Criteria 3: If the tie still does not break, then as per the third criterion for breaking the tie, candidates scoring more marks in the physics subject will be given a higher rank. 
  • Tie-Breaking Criteria 4: A candidate who has fewer incorrect responses in comparison to correct responses in Biology will be preferred over the other.
  • Tie-Breaking Criteria 5: A candidate who has fewer incorrect responses in comparison to correct responses in Chemistry will be preferred over the other.
  • Tie-Breaking Criteria 6: A candidate who has fewer incorrect responses in comparison to correct responses in Physics will be preferred over the other.
  • Tie-Breaking Criteria 7: Lastly, if the tie still persists after applying all the above-mentioned methods, then the candidate older in age will be directly allocated a higher rank.

  • All questions asked in the paper was from NCERT class 11 and 12 syllabus and nothing was asked out of the syllabus.
  • NEET UG chemistry paper was considered to be the toughest, especially the inorganic chemistry questions.
  • Biology was deemed as the easiest part. In this section, students found the Zoology section to be easier than Botany.
  • NEET 2023 physics section got a reception of mixed reactions - some found the section to be of moderate difficulty and others found it to be the toughest.

The merit list for NEET UG 2024 will be curated based on the marks obtained by students in the UG medical entrance examination. Students whose name will appear in the merit list will be eligible to participate in the AIQ or State level NEET UG counselling 2024.   • Components of Merit List: The All India Quota (AIQ) merit list consists of the names of the students, their All India Rank, Scores Obtained and gender.  It does not consider the candidate’s category as the merit list is AIQ.
