Haryana Govt. to Conduct Orientation Programme for New College Students

Haryana government is planning to start a two-day orientation programme for new students in all colleges and for the 2018-19 academic session so that students are familiar with the campus, regulation, services etc. According to the Haryana government, this initiative will serve as a medium to familiarise the students with the college and campus life and make the transition process for them easier.

Ram Bilas Sharma, Education Minister said that it will help the new students to adjust to the new environment. It is also decided that the students will be provided with all the information and facilities such as identity card, lesson plans, timetable, list of societies and student clubs, mentors and foundation booklet.

As per the records, 1.5 lakh students take admission in various colleges of the state and most of these belong to diverse backgrounds and are unaware of the college and its campus. Therefore, to ease their transition into the college, the Department of Higher Education decided to introduce the orientation programme. The main aim of the college through the orientation programme is to make students feel comfortable. This will provide them with an opportunity to make friends, and adjust to the new life.

Apart from this, the orientation programme will also include walk-in and brief on the institution, information about the academic calendar, rules and regulations, syllabus and other facilities offered by the college.
