Recently, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar urged universities across India to start promoting and encouraging more and more research work as they are not “machines to produce degrees”.

Prakash Javadekar was invited to Mahatma Gandhi Central University to launch the first academic session. He also added that the quality of education provided at any university depends on the research undertaken there.

Javadekar also discussed the plans of the HRD Ministry to help spread education and its awareness among the poor people so that it can be used as a means to eradicate poverty. He also raised the new slogan of the Centre — ‘Sabko Shiksha, Achhi Shiksha’ (good education to everybody).

Javadekar explained that the government is trying to bring back the meritorious Indian students who are doing research abroad in order to ensure that the Prime Minister’s Make in India campaign is a success.

The event was graced by the presence of Union Agriculture Minister and local MP Radha Mohan Singh and Minister of State for HRD Upendra Kushwaha.
