IBM and Skill Development Ministry Launch ‘New Collar’ Curriculum for ITIs
- IBM launched two-year Advanced Technical Diploma course for Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).
- The new course will impart next-generation skills to students as they are necessary to pursue New Collar careers.
IBMandMinistry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurshiphave jointly launched ‘New Collar’ curriculum for the enrichment of quality education at Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). As a part of ‘New Collar’ curriculum, a two-year Advanced Technical Diploma course will be offered at ITIs. The new programme is co-created and designed by IBM as a part of its global commitment to producing industry-fit and job-ready workforce for New Collar careers.
The new course will train the students in next-generation skills that are necessary forNew Collar careers.These skills play an important role in the firms where technical skills are more relevant rather than a college degree.

The new advanced technical courses will begin in ITIs this year. Primarily, the course will be offered at two ITIs inBangaloreandHyderabad.A women’s ITI in Noida will also introduce the new course this year.
The new Advanced Technical Diploma course will include courses on: -
- Analytics
- Cloud-based development and deployment
- Web development
- Hardware maintenance
- Soft skills training
Students who have passed Class 12 or Intermediate can joinAdvanced Technical Diploma course. After the successful completion of the two-year course, students will be offered a five-month paid internship at IBM.

The Advanced technical Diploma course is approved byNational Council for Vocational Training (NCVT)as a Level – 6 NSQF programme. Applied learning, experience-based learning, adopting new learning technologies and industry collaborations will be the modules of the course. IBM is working with the academia and government to expand and scale such kind of programmes.
