IIM Indore Hosts Indian Academy of Management Conference 2017
- 5th Biennial Indian Academy of Management Conference 2017 took place at IIM Indore from December 18 to 20, 2017.
- This year, the theme of the conference was ‘Leadership, Values and Ethics: Indian Insights’
Indian Institute of Management, Indore has successfully hosted 5thBiennial Indian Academy of Management Conference 2017. The conference took place on a grand note at IIM Indore from December 18 to December 20, 2017. The conference comprised of round-table discussions, workshops and paper presentations. This year, the theme of the conference was ‘Leadership, Values and Ethics: Indian Insights’. Over 180 participants took an active part in the conference and presented their views on the theme.
A workshop on ‘Common Shortcomings in Manuscript Submitted to Management Journals’ was conducted as a part of the conference. Expressing his views on the theme of the work, Professor Arup Varma from Loyola University, Chicago mentioned that students very often submit their term papers to the journal without appropriate style or presentation. One must follow the journal guidelines while submitting the paper. On the other hand, one should not submit a paper to any journal without having two or three colleagues read it, he highlighted.

Concluding his address, Mr. Arup Varma pointed that there is a need to overcome some of the academic writing, which are usually ignored.
During the workshop, Professor Naresh Khatri from the University of Missouri gave valuable tips to participants on academic writing skills and stressed on experience and learning.

As a part of the conference, a round-table discussion was held on the theme of the conference, followed by a professional development workshop on ‘Panchatantra’ by Professor N Ravichandran. During the workshop, Mr. Ravichandran pointed that storytelling is one of the best ways of teaching and communicating ideas.
