IIT-Bombay Organises Diabetes Checkup Camp for One Lakh Participants
The diabetes camp received a tremendous response, and it attracted Guinness World Record and Limca Book of Records to oversee the event.
Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay organised diabetes camp where more than one lakh participants took part in the camp. The initiative was carried out as a part of the technological festival at the campus Techfest. The camp took place on September 25, 2016. The camp was named as “Can You Escape Diabetes”. It received a tremendous response, and it attracted Guinness World Record and Limca Book of Records to oversee the event.
Karan Mehta, Media Manager of Techfest, said that nowadays the number of people with diabetes is increasing rapidly and most of the people are unaware whether they are affected by it. The camp has been organised to create awareness among the people about diabetes. He cited that according to the report of World Health Organisation (WHO), India is the second largest country where most of the people are affected by diabetes.

IIT-Bombay organised the diabetes camp in collaboration with Rotary District 3141 and Gadge Diabetes Care. A total number of 180 camps were set up by the institute to screen the people for diabetes across various locations in Mumbai.
Guinness registered the event as more than one lakh people signed the pledge cards on a single day. Limca Book of Records also noted the event for the most number of checkups for diabetes in a single day.
